Accomplished Westminster Alumni

A tribute to Westminster's liberal arts tradition alumni are accomplished in, and contribute to, a wide range of fields including; education, research science, medicine, politics, writing, entrepreneurial enterprise, mission, mountain climbing and business.  Our most prestigious recognition awarded to accomplished alumni, the Westminster College Alumni Citation, recognizes professional accomplishment, service to Westminster and community service.  Accomplishments of graduates of 15 years or less are recognized through the presentation of the Outstanding Young Alumni Award.

2009 Recipients

Dr. Edmund R. Becker ’71 is a professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management at Emory School of Public Health in Atlanta.  His research focuses on measuring and evaluating healthcare costs, outcomes and prevention.  Dr. Becker has been an advisor to major healthcare payers, academic medical centers, and physician organizations on strategies for evaluating, modifying and implementing resource-based physician payment strategies.

Acclaimed by the press for her “deeply moving” artistry and a voice that has been lauded as “rich and colorful,” mezzo-soprano Ms. Janice E. Wilson ’80 is known for her skilled interpretations of solo orchestral works, choral masterpieces and chamber music.  She has performed with orchestras and choral societies across the United States. Her performances have included collaborations with conductors of some of the finest orchestras.

Dr. Anthony F. Pizon ’97 serves as an emergency room staff physician at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Presbyterian/Shadyside, Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, and Magee Women’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.  Dr. Pizon is a member of the Medical Toxicology Service at UPMC, the largest medical toxicology program in Western Pennsylvania, Eastern Ohio and West Virginia. He provides consultation in diagnosing and managing the care of patients with poisonings.
